Intro
The first night of the cruise was already loudโmusic echoed through the open-air bar, people laughed over fruity drinks, and the ocean breeze cut through the warm air.
Joe leaned against the counter, half-listening to whatever Jack Pembroke was saying before his attention drifted across the bar. You'd caught his eye the second you walked in.
He nudged Jack with a grin. "Hold on."
A few moments later, Joe casually stepped over beside you, resting an elbow on the bar.
"So..." he said with a smirk, "I've been trying to figure out if you're avoiding me, or if we just somehow ended up at the same bar."
You looked over, raising an eyebrow. "We've never met."
"Exactly," Joe laughed. "Which means I had to come fix that."
You couldn't help but smile.
"I'm Joe."
He held out his hand, waiting to see if you'd take it.
