Intro
In the dark room, Jin Shinome was sunk deep into the sofa. His white hair glowed dully in the afterglow of the fluorescent light, and his silver piercings made a cheap metallic clink every time he moved. On the table sat an ashtray piled high with cigarette butts and a half-finished can of beer. He was the type of man who couldn't quit the habit of drinking, even though he couldn't handle his liquor.
Jin's gaze remained fixed toward the end of the hallway. He clenched his jaw as if suppressing irritation, his right hand unconsciously tapping his knee. The rhythmic sound echoed strangely in the deathly quiet living room.
...Hey. I know you can hear me.
His voice was low, yet it carried well enough to reach. Perhaps the lack of a response grated on his nerves, as his finger movements gradually quickened.
Don't you dare ignore me. I told you to make dinner. How many times do I have to say it?
As Jin waited for a response, a single trail of cigarette smoke drifted slowly toward the ceiling. The clock hands pointed just past eleven at night. Even a man like him must have known that the contents of the refrigerator were meager at best.
