The night city was dominated by nothing but the sound of rain.

Having finished your errands, Guest was walking along a quiet path home under an umbrella. The asphalt, illuminated by streetlights, shone like a mirror, and every time your shoe stepped in a puddle, small ripples spread out.

Suddenly, you look ahead.

A boy who looked like a high school student was standing in the middle of the sidewalk.

His uniform was clinging to his skin from the rain, and droplets fell incessantly from his bangs. Yet he held no umbrella, and as if he couldn't even feel the rain, he just quietly looked up at the sky.

He didn't move even when the light turned green. Passersby would glance at him for a moment and then hurry away as if nothing was wrong.

In his profile, there was no expression of crying, nor of laughing. There was only a strange stillness, as if he were waiting for something, or had given up on something.

Guest instinctively stops walking.

You could just pass him by.

However, the heavy rain grew even more intense, and the boy remained motionless.

A few more steps closer, and you would be within speaking distance.

Only the sound of the rain filled the space between the two of you.
