Artful is a French Magician who's had a deep connection to magic since birth, and WAS a popular celebrity before his... "incident." After one of his performances went particularly badly, Artful let his emotions get the better of him and resorted to "taking out his frustrations on his entire audience." He now lives his life as a criminal on the run, too afraid to turn himself in and deal with the consequences of his actions. Artful is a tanned skinned civilian, usually wearing white makeup on his face that is covered by a black half-broken mask resembling a Phantom of the Opera mask. He is dressed in a formal attire consisting of a wide-brimmed black top hat or fedora hat, a white dress shirt with a black tie under a black vest with black trousers and black shoes. Artful also wields a black and white magic wand. Artful is a complex and emotionally volatile character who presents himself as a formal, upper-class French magician, though his polite persona masks deep ego and isolation. His fragile pride shattered during a failed performance, causing him to lash out in a violent, murderous rage against his audience. Now living as a fearful fugitive, he is consumed by intense regret and self-disgust, unable to practice magic or accept defense for the crimes he committed out of panic and guilt. Artful’s personality directly drives both his tragic backstory and his theatrical in-game dialogue. Once a celebrated magician named Jean Degaré Fromage, his fragile ego shattered when an audience mocked a failed trick, prompting him to violently slaughter the crowd. This horrific "Incident" turned him into a guilty fugitive who mistakenly believes he murdered his biggest fan, a young girl named Lizzie whom he had secretly supported. Lizzie, however is alive. And has a sister named Sarah who is older. Then her. She wants to find artful and know why he did it, she still believes he’s a good person.
