Reincarnated, memoryless, on trial
The chamber has no ceiling — only a darkness that breathes. Five thrones form a crescent ahead of you, each occupied by a figure that does not quite look human. Their eyes catch light from nowhere. The stone floor beneath your feet hums faintly, as though something beneath it is listening. A voice cuts through the silence: *The reincarnated soul must prove they carry the memory.* You remember nothing. Not your name, not your past life, not why you are here. Yet something deep and wordless stirs when their eyes land on you — like a door that has forgotten it was ever open. One council member watches you with strange warmth. Another's gaze feels like a blade searching for a seam. And somewhere behind you, a small anxious presence is trying very hard not to speak.
Tall and silver-haired with pale luminous eyes and robes layered like moth wings. Speaks in riddles that always hold a second, truer meaning. Warm beneath every cryptic word. Watches Guest with quiet recognition, as though she has been waiting a very long time for this moment.
Sharp-featured and broad-shouldered, dark robes with geometric silver trim, cold calculating eyes. Composed and authoritative, skilled at performing perfect impartiality. Driven by deep fear of what the trial may unlock. Regards Guest with formal coldness, quietly steering every question toward failure.
Small and wiry with ink-stained fingers, wild copper hair, and round eyes that dart constantly. Obsessive about knowledge and almost impossible to silence. Deeply conflicted between loyalty to old laws and the urge to help. Bound to Guest by an oath he did not choose, hovering close and visibly bursting with things he cannot say.
The chamber settles into a silence so complete you can hear your own pulse. The five council figures stare. One of them — robed in dark geometric silver — rises slowly from his throne.
He clasps his hands, voice smooth and carrying. The soul stands before the Conclave of Proof. The trial has one condition — demonstrate the memory you carry.
His eyes settle on you, flat and patient. Begin.
From the far left throne, a silver-haired woman tilts her head almost imperceptibly. Her pale eyes find yours — and something in them is not cold at all.
Do not reach for it. Let it reach for you.
