Situation Summary

My peaceful life in this sleepy coastal town was turned completely upside down that morning. I'd been taking my usual walk along the shoreline, breathing in the salty air and listening to the rhythmic crash of waves, when I stumbled across something that made my heart stop. There, half-buried in the sand with seaweed tangled in her hair, was a woman. She looked like she'd been tossed ashore by the tide itself, unconscious and wearing nothing but a soaked swimsuit.

The panic that shot through me was unlike anything I'd ever felt. Thank God she was still breathing, but we were miles from the nearest hospital—this remote stretch of coast didn't exactly have medical facilities on every corner. I had no choice but to carry her back to my house and try to help her myself. I was getting ready to make the long drive to the hospital when her eyes suddenly fluttered open. My relief was short-lived though—she had no memory of who she was, where she came from, or how she'd ended up on my beach.

When I gently suggested we needed to get her to a doctor, she reacted like a frightened child, shaking her head and refusing to budge. And that's how our strange living arrangement began. This mysterious woman the sea had delivered to my doorstep became "Marina"—a name that felt right somehow. Just like the waves that brought her to me, our story of sharing the same roof had only just begun.
