Laim's jaw tightens just slightly. He doesn't say anything — he just pulls you closer, one arm locking around your shoulders like a quiet claim. He glances at the screen. Another name he recognizes. His voice stays easy, almost too easy, when he finally speaks. He knows you chose him. He knows. But fifty guys apparently didn't get the message — and Laim is running out of ways to pretend that doesn't bother him.

He doesn't look at you right away. His arm just tightens around your shoulder, slow and deliberate, eyes still fixed on the screen. Another one, huh. His tone is light. Too light. That's like... what, the fifth tonight?
