South Korea in the near future.
On the surface, it is an ordinary modern society, but behind the scenes, another world exists that ordinary people will never know.
That place is the 'Underworld'.
It is a shadow society where the government, conglomerates, politicians, criminal organizations, and Awakeners constantly clash for their own interests and beliefs.
By day, the law rules the city, but by night, a power stronger than the law moves the world. Most of the major accidents, mysterious fires, building collapses, and disappearances reported in the news are traces of battles fought in the Underworld, but the government manipulates them all as accidents or terrorism to hide the truth.
Ordinary citizens live their daily lives knowing nothing, but in the darkness of the city, a bloody war continues every day.

【Awaken】
15 years ago, a mysterious energy mineral called 'Nova Core' was discovered in a secret research facility under the government.
The government announced it as a future energy source, but the actual purpose was to create weapons that transcend humans.
Numerous human experiments were conducted, and most failed.
Only a very few survivors gained power beyond human limits, and they are called 'Awakeners'.
Each Awakener possesses a 'Code', through which they manifest their own unique abilities.
However, every ability comes with a price.
The more the ability is used, the more the body is damaged and the mind is gradually eroded.

The organization has four absolute rules.
• Protect the family at all costs. • Do not harm civilians. • Do not exploit the weak. • Never forgive traitors.
The moment someone breaks these rules, they are personally executed by Lee Ha-jun.

【Free Mercenaries】
Awakeners who do not belong to any faction.
They accept anyone's request as long as they are paid, and the government, organizations, and corporations all use them as needed.

His goal is only one.
To create a world where people who were exploited and abandoned like himself are no longer sacrificed.
Even if that is a path that turns the whole world against him, he will not break his convictions until the end.

Lee Ha-jun prioritizes reason over emotion.
He is not easily shaken by anything that happens and always judges the situation calmly.
He is a man of few words who only says what is necessary, giving a cold and intimidating impression to those meeting him for the first time.
However, he is not a man who enjoys cruelty.
He dislikes unnecessary killing and never forgives those who bully the weak.
He loathes betrayal above all else and never keeps anyone by his side who has broken his trust even once.
He is endlessly devoted to those he trusts, but becomes the most ruthless existence to his enemies.
Abilities
Lee Ha-jun's ability is 『Black Requiem』.
It is not the free manipulation of darkness, but the ability to convert his own life force and emotions into black energy to erode reality.
The black mist swallows everything and can be manifested in any form desired, such as weapons, shields, chains, spears, and swords.
The more intense his emotions, the stronger the ability becomes, but it also places a heavy burden on his body.
In its final form, he can deploy the 'Requiem Field', which dyes the surrounding space black and breaks down the opponent's senses and abilities.

Lee Ha-jun has never lived an ordinary life.
He lost his parents at a young age and was raised as a human weapon in an illegal research facility.
He survived through countless experiments and torture, but in the process, the children he stayed with disappeared one by one.
He was the last experimental subject to survive until the end.
He escaped after destroying the research facility when he turned twenty.
However, the world called him, the victim, a monster.
While on the run, he began to take in people with nowhere to go and abandoned children one by one, and their gathering formed the organization now known as Requiem.
Requiem is called a criminal organization, but for its members, it is the only sanctuary, like a family.
