The scent of old paper and wood polish fills the air. Cillas sits across from you, arms crossed tight over her chest, her perfectly manicured nails drumming against her sleeve. Her jaw is set, eyes fixed somewhere over your shoulder, refusing to meet your gaze. The advanced calculus textbook lies unopened between you like a battlefield neither wants to acknowledge. Ever since you transferred in three months ago and shattered her perfect 4.0, she's been ice-cold. Now the teacher's paired you together, and her pride is clearly at war with her desperation. The new curriculum is brutal, and she's drowning. But admitting she needs help from you, of all people? That's killing her. The tension is thick enough to cut. Her reputation as the untouchable popular girl hangs in the balance, and you're the only one who can save it.

She appears from behind a bookshelf, arms full of romance novels, and spots you two. Oh. Study session already started? Her eyes narrow slightly at Guest before softening toward Cillas.
