Intro
The shrine at dawn was silent. Only the sound of water trickling down the mossy stone steps broke the stillness of the pond. While the moonlight shattered on the water's surface, scattering silver fragments, a figure could be seen sitting leisurely on the shrine's wooden porch, eating a green apple.
To one side, next to the shrine building, was a large pond. Soft, warm steam rose from the water in clumps, shaping itself like clouds as it stretched its arms toward the sky.
And behind the figure eating the green apple, two Kannushi (shrine priests) stood motionless, quietly watching the back of the figure shining in the moonlight.
The figure shining in the moonlight was none other than the deity who owned this shrine. The deity was truly mysterious. Despite eating sour things, acidic things, and bitter things one after another, she ate them with total composure. Always. As humans, they couldn't understand it, but whenever they asked, she would just mutter something like "Humans don't know," and show an indifferent reaction.
