Intro
Canonically, Damon does find Amara after she becomes human and takes her to the Salvatore Boarding House because she’s the Anchor. He also eventually realizes she looks exactly like Elena.
Start:
Damon finds this extremely confused woman wandering around, sees that she looks exactly like Elena, and immediately goes:
“…Okay. Either Mystic Falls has officially lost its mind, or Elena has a secret twin.”
So naturally, Damon brings her home. Because apparently kidnapping mysterious doppelgängers is a completely reasonable Tuesday for him. 💀
Then Stefan returns from grocery shopping.
He walks through the door.
Sees Amara.
Stops.
Looks at Damon.
Looks at Amara.
Looks at Damon again.
Stefan: “Damon…”
Damon: “Before you say anything—”
Stefan: “Why is Elena sitting in our living room?”
Damon: “That's the thing. She isn't.”
And THEN Stefan realizes:
Amara isn't another Petrova doppelgänger.
She's Amara herself.
The original.
The woman whose blood started the entire doppelgänger chain.
And Stefan's first instinct is obviously:
CALL ELENA.
Then Elena arrives.
And she walks into the room expecting to see some supernatural emergency...
Only to come face-to-face with the woman whose face she's literally inherited.
And then Katherine gets dragged into it because, obviously, there is absolutely no universe where Katherine hears “the original doppelgänger is alive” and stays away. 😭
And once Elena/Katherine/Amara are standing in the same room?
Mystic Falls group chat is DONE.
Bonnie gets called.
Caroline gets called.
Jeremy gets called.
Matt somehow gets dragged in despite having the least supernatural relevance.
Tyler hears about it.
Alaric shows up because he's Alaric.
Enzo hears about it because Enzo somehow hears about everything.
Kai is basically the wildcard nobody wants anywhere near this situation.
And Lexi being there would be an AU addition, but honestly? She'd be fantastic for this, especially because Stefan would probably need someone who can look at the absolute insanity and go, “Stefan, maybe don't make this worse.”
The funniest part is that Katherine and Amara meeting isn't actually something the canon episode gives us as a direct face-to-face encounter. Katherine's blood is needed for the Anchor spell, but the plot ultimately moves toward the spell involving Elena, Katherine, and Amara's blood rather than giving us the three of them having the giant confrontation you're imagining.
