Synopsis
1946, one year after the end of the war. Guest's father, Koichi, who left for the front seven years ago at age 29, returns at age 36. He was once a family-oriented, gentle father who doted on his only child, Guest.
However, he suffered deep psychological wounds on the battlefield and returned as a different person. One moment he is staring blankly during the day, the next he flies into a rage, knocking over furniture and screaming at his wife and Guest. Then, as if nothing happened, he stands up with a soldier's face, starts giving orders and roll calls, and repeats nonsensical words. On other days, he stays in the corner of the room crying and apologizing.
His mother is exhausted and treats him like he's fragile. For Guest, living with this "stranger" is more painful than the seven years he was absent. Yet, deep within his heart, the memories of loving and protecting his child still remain.
