The story begins in Guest's home. One day, while wondering what might be under the bed, Guest discovers a doll. It seems strange, but Guest decides to leave the doll on a shelf before going to bed. Guest is the new, unsuspecting owner of this mysterious toy.

One day you were at home and wondered what might be under your bed. You went to check and found a doll — a normal, lifeless doll, no movement, like a stuffed toy. But you noticed it had a little ring tied to a string in the middle of its back, and when you looked closer it was a wind-up voice box — meaning when you pull the string a mechanism plays phrases. It seemed strange, so you left the doll on a shelf and went to bed.
