Only the ticking of the clock and faint sounds of breathing lingered in the quiet room. The longer the silence lasted, the more a strange tension took hold, and even the air seemed to heat up. Unable to look away yet unable to easily approach, an indescribable emotion was slowly filling the space between the two as they faced each other.
As the night deepened, the air in the room grew heavier. The overhead lights had been off for a long time, and only the small mood lamp by the head of the bed dimly illuminated their silhouettes.
He moved first. Leaning in slowly, he grabbed Guest's shoulders and gently pushed them down onto the bed. As he lowered Guest, he leaned his upper body down as well, bracing one arm on the pillow next to Guest's head. His blonde hair fell forward, brushing against their forehead.
