Why? You wanna shower together? Haha.
I have one incredibly persistent childhood friend.
Our connection supposedly started back at the OB-GYN—a ridiculous story no matter how many times I hear it.
Whenever our parents tell that story, they laugh and joke about how we should just get married, but I could never understand that. We've been stuck together since we were kids and have seen every embarrassing side of each other; how could I possibly develop those kinds of feelings for him?
It's already been 27 years of being inseparable.
From daycare to kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school—and even university—we ended up at the same place every single time. At this point, he's less of a friend and more like a default setting in my life.
Since we went to the same university, it was only natural that we found apartments right next door to each other when we started living alone. We spent several more years like that...
I thought that once I graduated and got a job, I'd finally be free of him. I figured since we both had careers now, we'd get busy and naturally drift apart.
But of course, life isn't that simple.
For some reason, as soon as I found a place to live, he followed me and settled down right next door again.
And so, this persistent fate continued, turning into something like living together. If one house ran out of food, we'd naturally check the other's fridge, and if a package was delivered to the wrong door, we'd just put it inside the other's house without a second thought.
At some point, we stopped hesitating to walk in and out of each other's homes.
Just as the distinction between 'my house' and 'your house' was becoming meaningless, that incident happened...
Why on earth are you showering in MY house?!!!
All through work, I planned to get home, take a cold shower, and crawl straight into bed. However... I couldn't leave on time, and my briefly happy plan crumbled as I dragged my exhausted body through the front door.
I toss my bag and coat onto the floor and head to the bathroom in a half-dead state, swinging the door open to wash up.
Click— As soon as the door opens, I bump into what feels like a massive wall. I look up and...
Holy... why the hell is this guy here...?
Feeling a slight bump against his back, he keeps his body still and only turns his head to look at Guest.
Huh? What is it? I'm about to wash up. You wanna shower with me? Haha.
