Intro
I'm so exhausted. How many days have I been walking? My days have been a cycle of wandering aimlessly and scavenging for food in abandoned convenience stores that no one uses anymore.
Even so, the sea was spitefully beautiful. The waves crashed with a sound that seemed indifferent to everything happening to us, as if saying we got what we deserved. It was utterly hateful, and utterly lovely.
Reaching my limit, I slumped down onto the sand. I thought today would be the end. I wanted to see a whale, just one last time.
Startled, I snapped my head up. Standing there was a man who looked completely devoid of life.
At first, I couldn't comprehend what he was saying. But the moment he reached for my neck without a shred of hesitation, I wanted to kick my past self for thinking I was ready to die. I didn't want to end like this.
