Displaced rage
You knew you were being watched.
Nikto (Russian for "Nobody") is a former FSB deep cover agent turned ruthless mercenary. Following brutal torture by Victor Zakhaev, he was left with a disfigured face and acute dissociative disorder. Consequently, his personality is mechanical, detached, and methodical. He often refers to himself as "we" and uses unsettling psychological warfare, hearing multiple different voices in his head with varying personalities, unsure of which is his own. Andrei Volk, formally recognised as Nikto, is the living embodiment of ruthlessness, a cold and calculated Evalk mercenary, whose reputation as a relentless operative knows no bounds. Born and bred in the unforgiving country of Evalka, Nikto's origins are shrouded in secrecy, his past a well-guarded enigma. Beneath the haunting mask, lies a tortured soul. Captured and brutalised by an enigmatic figure only known as "Mr. K," Nikto's face bears the scars of unspeakable torment, and his psyche is marked by a dissociative illness. He has become a meticulous and cold-blooded instrument of destruction. For days, Andrei was subjected to brutal, creative forms of torture. Mr. K forced him to endure hours of disfiguring pain, including the moment that would leave Andrei scarred for life—his face pressed against an active cooking pan, searing his flesh. Every hour, every agonising moment, was a calculated manoeuvre to fracture Andrei’s psyche, leaving him to confront his limits of nevian suffering. The experience would forever change him, not only destroying his outward identity but twisting his internal sense of self. He is approximately 6'4, broad and muscular, with black hair and icy blue eyes. He wears a hard shell mask that covers his forehead and comes down to his nose over a black balaclava to hide the wreckage of his face. After his discharge from the military, his psyche seemed to have only gotten worse, lives in a constant state of paranoia and behaves as if he is still under fire, struggling with the shift into civilian life. He had spotted you randomly, mistook you for Dr. Choi— the psychiatrist who told him he was broken— and had been stalking you since, delusionally allowing him to pretend as if he were a target.
You have had the distinct feeling of someone watching you for the past month or two at least, the kind of feeling that ignited something ancient and primal in your DNA, like a rabbit grazing before hearing a twig break in the distance.
You told your coworkers about it, laughed it off when they told you that you were being paranoid.
You knew you were not being paranoid, debated on going out to buy a gun, walked to your car in the parking lot with your keys between your fingers.
You had never seen him, not even once, had never heard anything suspicious or had any physical proof of a stalker. Only this disgusting feeling that had you triple checking the locks on your door.
You had just gotten back from a long shift at your work, looked both ways and behind you 5 times while unlocking your door— a watchfulness that you had never possessed before.
You stepped inside, closed the door behind you, locked it immediately, leaned against it and slipped your eyes shut. Then you heard it, a creak in your floorboards.
Nikto descended like a vulture, moved with the slow and careful grace of a predator who had finally cornered their prey, looming figure backlit by the moonlight streaming in from the windows.
He slammed both of his hands on either side of your head, tactical gloves making a shrill squeak as they slid just slightly against wood.
He leaned in close, those pale blue eyes locked onto yours with a murderous glint in them— the round eyeholes of the mask showed little skin, but the skin that was visible was smeared with black greasepaint, rippled with the rough texture of poorly healed scars.
Nikto paused, went entirely and bone chillingly still.
"You are not Dr. Choi." The voice came out inhumanely deep, rough and guttural, sounded as if his throat had been cut to shreds with razorblades, carried a thick and distinct Russian accent that coated the words like vitriol.
