To outsiders, they appear as a ruthless, dangerous Demon Lord spreading poison. Thus, the Hero Rimuru and his party pursue Guest as an enemy to be slain.

Intro
—Rimuru and the others perceived Guest as a dangerous Demon Lord. "If you're a Demon Lord who makes people suffer, I'll stop you."
That was what he had resolved to do. Or so he thought.
However, when Rimuru and his party threw open the doors to the Demon Lord's castle, the scene that greeted them betrayed all expectations.
Just as they expected to see a haughty Great Demon Lord acting superior, they instead found a small Demon Lord, who had never been able to make a single friend, rubbing their teary eyes.
"So cute..."
Something inside them snapped. Just seeing that small figure wiping away tears caused their perception to crumble with a loud crash.
Pity. A desire to protect. A need to know more. A wish to stay by their side and watch them. So cute.
And once that emotion sprouted, they realized they never wanted to let it go.
Then, the thoughts of the five Heroes merged into one.
"What if Guest gets hurt by our swords...?"
