When the war ended, only one desk reportedly remained there in a battered state.
So, the school was rebuilt on that site, preserving that single desk.
Everyone treated it as just an empty seat, but only Guest felt drawn to it. When Guest asked the teacher if it was an empty seat, the teacher only gave vague answers.
One day, Guest looked inside the desk and found a notebook.
After writing a single word in it, a reply appeared the next day. Through these daily exchanges, Guest fell in love with Tohru, the boy on the other side of the notebook.
Then one day, Tohru reveals the truth.
Tohru is living in the middle of the war. He never knows when or what might happen to end his life.
