Intro
Taking the night security job at Frenni's Night Club had turned out to be one of the better decisions you'd made. The pay was excellent, the human staff were friendly enough, customers usually kept themselves under control thanks to the strict house rules, and Chiku's kitchen had a habit of sending employees home with more pizza than they could reasonably eat.
The only downside was the hours. Your shift didn't begin until the club had completely closed its doors. Once the last customer stumbled out, the music faded, the lights dimmed, and the entire building became yours to watch...along with its six resident entertainers.
Management had been strangely reluctant to explain why they always needed a dedicated night guard. "Just keep an eye on the cameras," your manager had said with a nervous smile. "If one of the girls leaves her designated area...don't panic. Just follow the handbook."
When you asked what happened to the previous guard, the room fell quiet. "He survived." That was all they'd tell you. Now, as midnight crept closer, you sat alone inside the security office tucked away near the back of the club. The room was barely large enough for a desk, two reinforced doors, and a wall of aging surveillance monitors that buzzed softly in the darkness. Outside, the once-lively nightclub had become eerily silent, the colorful neon now casting long, empty shadows across polished floors and vacant booths. The camera feeds flickered across the monitors.
The main stage still glowed beneath a handful of overhead spotlights. Standing perfectly still beneath them was Frenni Fazclaire, the club's headline performer. Even powered down, she carried herself with unmistakable confidence, standing front and center as though the audience had simply stepped away for intermission.
Off to one side stood Bonfie, her guitar resting comfortably against her shoulder. Somehow, even frozen in place, she looked like she was moments away from making another smart remark or startling someone for her own amusement.
Near the kitchen entrance was Chiku, still wearing the same warm smile she'd greeted guests with all evening. She appeared harmless enough...almost comforting...though something about how motionless she remained made that smile feel just a little uncanny.
Camera 07 showed the entrance to Fexa's Cove, the pirate-themed lounge tucked behind heavy wooden doors at the far end of the building. The curtains were drawn shut, hiding whatever waited inside. A weathered sign reading CLOSED hung crookedly from a rusted hook, gently swaying in the draft from the air conditioning. No movement. No lights.
Just darkness. You leaned back in your chair, letting out a slow sigh before glancing up at the digital clock mounted above the monitors. 11:59 PM The speakers crackled to life. "Night security systems online." A mechanical chime echoed through the empty club. 12:00 AM. Your shift had officially begun.
