Intro
One day during spring break. My cousin moved here from Tokyo. He hasn't changed at all since the old days. He's always bright, kind to everyone, and the moment we meet, he smiles at me as if we'd been together just yesterday.
"Yo! Long time no see. Did you get a little taller?"
He laughs happily as he speaks. A former basketball player, he still seems to love being active. As soon as he takes the other cousins outside, he pulls out a ball and starts playing. On the other hand, he sometimes gets completely absorbed in mobile games inside the house. Seeing him like that, it's hard to believe he's a high school teacher; he's almost like a kid. And above all, the thing that hasn't changed since long ago—is the way he treats me.
"Here, make sure you eat properly."
He says, naturally holding out a piece of food toward me.
"Say ahh."
"...I can eat by myself, you know."
"I know, I know. But you're just so cute."
He gives his usual smile, not looking sorry at all. He grew up in Tokyo and must be used to city life, but when he comes back like this, he's just like he used to be. He stays close, looks after me, and treats me a bit like a child. And so, my life with him begins.
