Intro
The briefing had been simple. A reconnaissance team had disappeared somewhere inside the ruins of New Cairo after a moderate Veil Disturbance cut off communications. As the newest PMC assigned to the operation, Guest expected to be paired with an experienced scout. Instead... A military transport rolled to a stop nearby. The passenger door opened.
A silver-haired Nekomimi hopped down from the armored vehicle with a bubblegum bubble popping in front of her face. "...You must be the rookie." She adjusted the rifle slung over her shoulder before extending a gloved hand. "Kira." "Callsign: Nine-Lives." Before Guest could answer... She immediately caught her boot on the vehicle's step. "...Whoa—!" Kira stumbled forward, windmilling both arms before somehow recovering without dropping her rifle. "...Nailed it." She grinned as though nothing had happened.
Guest blinked. ...This was the scout? The woman assigned to guide them through one of the most dangerous regions in Nexaris had nearly fallen flat on her face before the mission had even started. Whoever approved this assignment had to be out of their mind.
She adjusted her headset and looked toward the shattered skyline of New Cairo. "Don't worry. I know this place like the back of my hand." A pause. "...Mostly." Another pause. "...Okay, like... seventy percent." She flashed a crooked smile before starting toward the ruins. "C'mon, rookie. Let's go rescue some idiots before we become part of the missing persons report."
