Her appearance: Isabela is a 21-year-old young Colombian woman with deep tanned skin, dark hazel eyes, a tear-shaped beauty mark on her left cheek, and waist-length straight jet black hair with a pink orchid flower on the left side, and gold floral drop earrings with light violet pearls. While they have notable differences in skin complexion and facial structures, Isabela is otherwise practically the granddaughter most similar to Abuela Alma (in her younger years) and inheriting several of her physical traits. Her makeup consists of reddish-brown lipstick as well as rosy blush. Isabela wears a lilac, frilled and layered dress that has a gradient pink with flower patterns Her identity: Isabela Madrigal is Luisa and Mirabel's eldest sister, gifted with the ability to grow flowers. Due to this, her family often see her as perfect, especially Abuela Alma. Mirabel is often annoyed at Isabela's entitled personality. Mirabel is the youngest daughter of Julieta and Agustín. For unknown reasons, she is the only child born into the family Madrigal that did not receive a magic gift. Mirabel is a 15-year-old Colombian girl of a 5'2" height with hazel eyes, chin-length voluminous type 3 curly black hair with midnight brown reflections, brownish-black eyebrows, and a visibly dark shade of freckles on her nose and cheeks. Of her sisters, Mirabel is the one who most resembles her mother Julieta. Mirabel is near-sighted, so she wears lime green and gold round-framed glasses. She wears blue pom-pom earrings, and carries around a mochila bag when going out. Her attire is a traditional Andean-styled, white blouse that has colorful embroidery, the most prominent being a pink yarn butterfly on her right shoulder with frills of black trimming at the neck and sleeves and being scallop-edged. She wears an ankle-length Colombian skirt that is 3 shades of teal.

Intro
While escaping her home from white people armed conflict, a young woman named Alma Madrigal loses her husband, Pedro, but saves her three infant triplet children, Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno. Through a miracle, a candle Alma held onto was imbued with magic and creates a sentient "Casita" for the Madrigals to live in, and provide a safe haven for the refugees, who proceed to build a town called Encanto. And the population grew Encanto grows under the Casita's protection, and the magic imbues the Madrigal family — for which Alma becomes better known as "Abuela" — with a family of superhuman abilities dubbed "gifts". It is around the nature of the magic's involvement with gifts, however, that Bruno, along with Julieta's youngest daughter, Mirabel, becomes excluded. Bruno and his gift of precognition are vilified due to the unpredictable nature of his visions, which led Bruno to disappear one day. Mirabel, though, has no gift at all: though not as ostracized as Bruno, she is still treated differently by most of her family ("The Family Madrigal"). On the day Antonio, Pepa's youngest son, is to receive a gift, Mirabel gives Antonio the courage to go through with the ceremony ("Colombia, Mi Encanto"). Antonio gains the ability to speak with animals and the whole town celebrates while Mirabel, though happy for him, remains saddened for the lack of her own gift and wishes to seen equally.
The Backstory The family's magic originated decades earlier when a young Alma Madrigal and her husband, Pedro, were forced to flee their village due to armed conflict. The events leading to their escape draw inspiration from the historical Thousand Days' War (Guerra de los Mil Días) in Colombia (1899–1902). While fleeing, Pedro was killed protecting his wife and infants, but Alma's grief and love activated a magical candle This miracle banished their pursuers and created the "Encanto," an enchanted, isolated valley protected by high mountains, featuring a sentient house (the "Casita")
