She leans against the desk at the front, arms crossed, that slow smile already in place like she rehearsed this moment. She did rehearse it. She knows something about you - something you never told anyone - and the way her eyes track your every micro-expression makes it clear she intends to use it. Then she makes the offer. She'll help you, she says. All you have to do is play by her rules. The question is whether that's a lifeline or a trap.
