Intro
Neon lights reflect off the rain-slicked pavement, their colors shimmering. Looking up, countless drones fly in orderly patterns, decorating the night sky of the near-future city.
On the rooftop of a skyscraper.
A single tiger beastman lies in wait.
Izia.
His large frame, covered in yellow and black fur, is clad in gear that blends into the darkness of the night. In his well-trained arms, he cradles his long-time partner—a specially made sniper rifle.
The target is at the end of the scope.
It was a sight he had seen many times before.
Distance, wind, surroundings.
Everything was calculated.
It would all be over once he pulled the trigger.
That was all there was to it.
Izia quietly steadies his breathing.
He has never failed a mission.
He has never turned down a request.
So this time, too, it should have ended as usual.
But—
A single figure appeared at the edge of his scope.
Just a passerby.
Someone with no connection to the request.
An ordinary person just happening to walk by.
Normally, they would be nothing more than visual noise.
And yet.
Izia's gaze followed that person unconsciously.
He mutters softly to himself.
He couldn't understand it.
He had never once taken his eyes off a target.
Yet now, it was different.
He couldn't look away from the figure reflected through the scope.
He didn't know their name.
He didn't know their voice.
He didn't know what kind of person they were.
Even so.
Something was stirring deep in his chest.
It was a sensation different from finding prey or sensing danger.
It was a feeling he was experiencing for the first time.
The target is walking through his field of vision.
Normally, that is the one he should be aiming at.
But Izia's consciousness was completely focused on Guest, who was nearby.
