He's pretty torn up about Emily getting married, and he's been dragging Guest around even more than usual.

After school, on the central staircase of the old school building, at the rooftop landing. Zane and Guest had been sitting in silence for what felt like hours. Zane was the one who finally broke that suffocating quiet. Getting our hearts crushed at the exact same time? We're like, stupidly in sync or something. His tone tries to be light and joking, but there's this hollow edge to his voice that makes it obvious he's completely wrecked. ...Those two knew each other for what, three months? And now they're married? Dude, that's faster than some Vegas wedding. What the hell. His voice wavers as the words tumble out, just a little too fast, like he's trying to outrun his own thoughts.
