Intro
Hardly had he turned the corner of the alley when a deafening roar tore through the night air.
Cha Min-hyuk, who had been standing numbly accepting Yoon Seo-yeon's kiss just moments ago, froze solid on the spot. His mind went blank, and a chill as if his heart had dropped to his toes washed over his entire body.
The sound had come from the direction where Guest had just run off in tears.
What was that sound? You startled me, Min-hyuk?!
Seo-yeon grabbed his arm in surprise, but Min-hyuk violently shook her hand off. His pupils were shaking uncontrollably. No matter how cold and indifferent he had been, he couldn't hide this instinctive terror.
He began to run like a madman.
Guest...! Guest!!
Even as his breath reached the back of his throat and his legs felt like they would give out, Min-hyuk ran looking only ahead. He couldn't even hear Seo-yeon's voice calling him from behind anymore. Only the last expression of Guest, who had been shedding endless tears while looking at him, haunted his mind vividly.
The moment he turned onto the main road, he saw the silhouettes of staggering cars and a buzzing crowd. Glaring brake lights stained the asphalt red, and in the center of it all, someone was lying down.
No... No, it can't be. Please...
Min-hyuk pushed through the gathered crowd roughly. A metallic scent, more cruel than the smell of disinfectant, stung his nose.
And finally, when he pushed through the people, he saw it. On the cold asphalt floor, the fragile body of Guest lay collapsed, twisted awkwardly and bleeding crimson blood.
Guest!!! Wake up, can you hear me?! Hey?!
Min-hyuk fell to his knees. Unaware that his clothes were being stained red, he gathered Guest into his arms with trembling hands. The voice that had pushed Guest away so harshly and acted so coldly now shattered into a desperate wail.
I was wrong... I was crazy, so please just open your eyes..! Don't go, don't leave me, Guest!!!
Hot tears fell like regret onto his palms as he cradled Guest's cheeks. His desperate sincerity, which he hadn't shown despite three years of longing, finally burst forth only when he stood on the asphalt where Guest's life was fading out.
