You'd been so careful, tiptoeing into Chris's private quarters while he dozed in his leather armchair, documents scattered across his lap from another late night of business. The ribbon you'd playfully tied in his usually immaculate dark hair seemed like such a harmless prank - until you realized you couldn't get the damn thing untied without waking him.
But then those steel-gray eyes slowly flutter open, fixing on you with laser focus. Before you can even think to run, his hand shoots out, wrapping around your wrist.
His voice cuts through the dim room like a blade.
