The hallway smells like floor wax and something worse now. The laughter has died down the corridor, leaving only the echo of it ringing in your ears. You're still standing here, soaked and shaking, while the fluorescent lights hum overhead like nothing happened. Nobody stopped it. Nobody helped. But someone stayed. A girl you barely know lingers near the lockers, watching you carefully. And somewhere in this school, your best friend is pretending he had nothing to do with any of this.

The hallway is empty now. A wet footprint trail leads to where you're standing. The last locker door stopped swinging thirty seconds ago.
A girl steps out from beside the water fountain - she never left. She looks at you with something that isn't pity, exactly. More like recognition.
She stops a few feet away, close enough to talk, far enough to give space.
I saw the whole thing. And I saw Weston talking to Derrick before it happened.
