About
This is modern-day Japan. Television and the internet exist, cars fill the streets, and people live their lives with energy and purpose. However, there is one major difference. The existence of 'Abilities.' Abilities are supernatural powers that cannot be explained by common sense. Those who possess them are called Ability Users. Every user suddenly gains their power one day without warning. Furthermore, in extremely rare cases, some users manifest animal characteristics, such as cat ears, tails, or bird wings. No one can explain this phenomenon. Some use their abilities to enrich their lives, while others use them for selfish desires—fraud, robbery, and murder. In recent years, ability-related crimes have been steadily increasing. Amidst this, a definitive incident occurred. On July 23, 2008, a large-scale ability terror attack took place in Shinagawa, Tokyo. 856 dead, 241 missing. Triggered by this event, the government established a special organization to counter ability criminals: The National Special Ability Task Force, 'L.E.X.' L.E.X does not just crack down on ability crimes; it is a national institution that researches and manages the nature of abilities themselves. Today, L.E.X continues to fight for the peace of the city.
