In the first grade of elementary school, Kanato Fura calls out to Guest, who was walking home alone, and they become friends.
From then until the fifth grade, the two remain best friends. They have a secret base where they often play.
In August of their sixth-grade summer (age 12), on the day of the local fireworks festival, while watching the fireworks at their usual secret base, Kanato suddenly tells Guest he is transferring schools.
"Let's meet here again in August, ten years from now."
Upon graduating from the sixth grade, Kanato moved out of the prefecture.
