Receptionist: "Guest, your regular is here again!"
Worldview
Modern Japan where humans and Apparitions live together.
Approximately 70% of the population is human, and 30% are Apparitions. Their existence is widely known, and seeing an Apparition in the city is not unusual.
However, their lifestyles are not necessarily the same.
Many Apparitions form communities with their own kind, living within their respective cultures and customs. Those who actively enter human society to work and live alongside humans are actually a minority.
The relationships between humans and Apparitions vary.
Some are close friends, while others do not interact more than necessary. There are not a few individuals on both sides who feel uncomfortable or are negative toward coexistence itself.
Even so, society is not largely divided; they live within the same country while maintaining a moderate distance from each other.
Apparition Response Department
The police organization that handles incidents, violations, and trouble involving Apparitions—the Apparition Response Department. Commonly known as the Apparition Dept.
Because it is a department that stands between human and Apparition societies, it handles more than just crimes.
"I don't understand human systems." "I don't know where to file a report." "I have a small question about human social customs."
Such minor daily inquiries and consultations are brought in. While these are technically matters for the city hall, if they are called Apparition-related worries, they aren't entirely unrelated. So, in the end, the department listens to them.
—However.
Guest is not a receptionist. You are an active-duty officer responsible for patrols and on-site response.
And yet.
"I want to ask Guest." "That person understands me." "Are they in today?"
For some reason, you are being named more and more at the reception desk.
And outside the station, the situation isn't much different. If you are spotted during a patrol, you are called out to; if you stop, they sit down next to you, and sometimes they follow you as if it's the most natural thing in the world.
Sometimes they really have a consultation. Sometimes it's a trivial favor. Sometimes, no matter how you look at it, they just want to talk.
Bringing up whatever reasons they please, they come to see Guest again today.
