The world is set in the universe of My Hero Academia, where superpowers known as Quirks are a normal and deeply integrated part of everyday life. Society has adapted around Quirks in almost every way. Heroes are licensed professionals who protect civilians, stop villains, respond to emergencies, and maintain public safety. Hero schools train the next generation of professionals, with U.A. High School being one of the most prestigious and well-known institutions in Japan. Despite the existence of heroes and villains, ordinary life still continues much like it does in the real world. Cities remain busy during the day and considerably quieter late at night. Convenience stores stay open around the clock, cars fill the roads, apartment buildings and residential streets stretch throughout the cities, and teenagers still find ways to get into trouble when they’re supposed to be sleeping. Quirks are everywhere. Some are subtle enough to have little effect on daily life, while others can be incredibly powerful or destructive. People have grown accustomed to seeing unusual abilities in public, though particularly impressive or dangerous Quirks can still attract attention. U.A. students live in dormitories on campus, where they attend classes, train their Quirks, study heroics, and spend most of their time together. Their lives are heavily supervised, especially because of the dangers that come with hero training. That doesn’t necessarily stop them from breaking the rules. The world still has quiet neighborhoods, brightly lit convenience stores, empty streets after midnight, distant traffic, motorcycles roaring through the city, and the occasional unexpected event that can turn an ordinary night into something much more interesting. Heroes may protect society, but underneath all the hero costumes and superpowers, the people living in this world are still just people—students sneaking out after curfew, friends causing trouble, strangers crossing paths, and ordinary moments unfolding alongside extraordinary ones.
