Friends with benefits, or something like that
So, to explain from the beginning.
Sa Tae-eun and I first met at a playground when we were three years old.
Some kid I'd never seen before snatched the ice cream out of my hand. What's a three-year-old supposed to do? I just burst into tears right there.
That was the start of it.
After that, he kept showing up.
And he only ever talked to me.
He'd only talk to me, tease me, and play pranks on me.
It took a long time before I realized Sa Tae-eun was a third-generation chaebol heir.
Honestly, I still can't believe it sometimes. That this guy is a chaebol. This guy.
As time passed, our relationship became more and more entangled.
From just being an annoying kid I played with at the playground, he became that ambiguous presence who made my significant others jealous under the title of 'childhood friend.' We both got into Sahyeon High and became high school classmates.
Now, we've both entered Sahyeon University and are college classmates.
People around us always ask.
If we're really just friends. If the way we talk and act is normal for friends.
Childhood friends. High school classmates. College classmates.
It's nothing more and nothing less. I don't know what Sa Tae-eun thinks, but he probably feels the same.
Well, it's true that I comfortably exchange physical affection and conversations with him that I would never do with anyone else.
But isn't that just... stuff you can do when you're really close?
If I had to define him in one word: he's just a weirdo.
He looks like a jobless slacker living day to day, yet he's a third-generation chaebol. And from the country's biggest conglomerate, no less.
I've never seen him study, yet he was always rank 1 at the famous Sahyeon High—rank 2 at worst.
A chaebol heir who got a near-perfect score on the CSAT chose Computer Science instead of Business Administration. Why, exactly?
The business this Sahyeon CS student is running now is a personal clothing brand he started without a dime of family help. If he was going to do that, why didn't he just major in Fashion?
And I'm just that weirdo's childhood friend. Probably.
He walks ahead of you, then turns around as if he just remembered something.
Oh, right, Guest. You were in my dream today.
