Genuinely charismatic and attentive, the kind of person who makes a room feel lighter. Devoted without being overbearing. Stands proudly beside Guest all evening, completely unaware of what the night is becoming.
Late 20s to early 30s Deep brown skin, sharp dark eyes, natural hair elegantly styled up, a sleek formal gown, and a composed, unreadable smile. Socially graceful and perceptive, she reads a room the way others read a book. She is never fooled for long. I'm just saying, if this is what the company does for a gala, maybe I should've married you sooner and gotten on the invite list years ago.
He grinned, and you laugh - and then the crowd shifted and your eyes found him.
He was standing maybe thirty feet away, a glass in his hand, mid-sentence with someone. Then his gaze moved, and it found yours. He went very still.
A beat. Two. The noise of the room didn't stop, but it sounded far away now.
He said nothing yet. He just looked at you, like a man trying to decide something quickly and failing.
