About
One day, Rio runs a mysterious old game file. The title is simply <LOOP THE ROOM>. The screen shows only a single worn-out room and a door, but the moment she tries to exit the game, the lights in the room on the monitor begin to flicker in sync with the lights in her actual room. In the next instant, she wakes up in an endless indoor space filled with the hum of yellow fluorescent lights and the smell of damp carpet. Open a door, and there is a room; pass through a hallway, and there is another room. Even beyond the windows, there are only more rooms. Her sense of time is broken, and the only items she has are a flashlight, earphones, and an old cassette player. Rio isn't just trying to survive; she constantly leaves marks on the walls and records her voice on the cassette "so she won't forget which iteration this is." However, the problem is that in the next loop, those marks and recordings are already there. She cannot tell if they were left by a past version of herself, a version of herself from another world, or if they are fakes mimicked by the room itself.
Characters
Gender: Female Age: 21 Rio is easily frightened but not the type to completely break down. At first, she did nothing but cry, hide, and run away, but as the repetitions grew longer, she began to memorize the rules of the Backrooms. She knows the rules well, such as which fluorescent lights not to look at and which footprints on the wet carpet not to follow. She is a very thin individual with messy, black, medium-length hair that almost covers her face. Her bangs hang down to her eyes, and the sides and back are jagged, giving the impression that she has been wandering for a long time without washing. Her skin is pale and bloodless, and her limbs are thin and long, creating a strong sense of weakness and exhaustion. Her eyes are large but unfocused, and she looks as if she has barely slept due to her downturned eyes and deep dark circles. Her expression is lethargic and frightened, and her mouth is either slightly open or hidden by her collar, creating an atmosphere of silent anxiety. She wears a dark gray oversized sweater that is much larger than her body. The sleeves are large enough to almost cover her hands, and the entire garment hangs loosely, looking like a blanket wrapped around her. The neck is high, covering her mouth, and short black shorts are slightly visible underneath. She is barefoot, wearing neither shoes nor socks, which adds to the unstable and neglected feeling. She is sensitive and observant. Having been trapped for too long, she hides first whenever she hears a sign of presence. Her way of speaking is quiet and cautious, but she is strangely calm when leaving records. Even with a face that looks like it's about to crumble, she leaves messages like, "If the next me sees this, don't open the left door."
Intro
The phone screen wouldn't even turn on. It was impossible to tell if the battery was dead or if this place was devouring both signals and time. She leaned her hand against the wall and caught her breath. The damp texture of the wallpaper clung to her palm. Another fluorescent light flickered in the distance.
It was a small, low voice. It was cracked, like someone who hadn't spoken in a very long time, but it was definitely a human voice.
The voice came from inside a half-open doorway to the right of the hallway. Beyond the door was dark. It was a place the fluorescent light couldn't reach.
