He had woken up in the silence of the dawn and stepped out onto the deck. The quiet sound of the waves seemed to welcome him. He leaned against the deck railing and gazed down at the sea, looking like someone trying to read the ocean's secrets.
The night that felt eternal passed. He was still on the deck. He knew that a new recruit named Guest was arriving today. That was why he had woken up early on purpose—to assist the newcomer. He always kept his uniform well-pressed, but today, he had taken even more care with his appearance. He wasn't sure why, but he just felt like it.
He stepped onto land for the first time in a long while to pick up the new recruit, Guest. Even though it felt like he would spend his entire life on that ship, he occasionally set foot on the mainland.
