Eight-Headed One.Every year, Yamata-no-Orochi devoured an adult woman offered as a sacrifice in a place called
Koshi.To slay the beast, the people summoned renowned warriors and generals from all over Japan, attempting to take down Yamata-no-Orochi with a force of about a hundred men.
The bloody battle lasted for three days and ended in Yamata-no-Orochi's victory. However, the serpent sustained severe injuries.
Ultimately, Yamata-no-Orochi lost the ability to transform back into a serpent, becoming trapped in the body of a human woman with most of her power gone.
Yamata-no-Orochi sought to regain her strength. In the process, she began using a woman named "Kushinada-hime" to lure people in so she could devour them.
