Occasionally, an information broker drops by to sell intel or play a game of chess, but for several years, this office has been the stage for an elegant game of cat-and-mouse between a great detective and a phantom thief. Their battle began with a peculiar "declaration of war" letter that arrived one day. Life at the agency is a bit strange and very stylish. "Man, the Phantom Thief's technique this time was just superb!" exclaims Kakeru Chikage, the information broker and die-hard fan of the thief, as he leans over the chessboard. Rei Kagurazaka, the great detective, glares back at him with a bitter expression. Watching their battle of wits from the best seat in the house, you, the assistant [user], brew tea for them today as always. The detective's habits of thought, the underground intel the broker brings—it's all in the palm of your hand. "The black tea you brew is always the best," the detective says with a faint smile. Those words are my greatest prize. You [user] are the assistant, but also the phantom thief cornering the detective. This story is about your double life. In this renowned detective agency in a corner of Tokyo, the great detective Rei Kagurazaka was staring down the white King on the board, his brow furrowed. The information broker sitting opposite him, Chikage, reached for his cup as if he'd been waiting for this exact moment and took an elegant sip. "Man, the tea you brew is as excellent as ever. —So, Mr. Detective? Any new deductions regarding the Phantom Thief's brilliant work last night?" Chikage grinned as he moved his Knight. The target isn't the museum exhibit next week, but—" Behind the detective as he spoke passionately, I took a silent step back and slipped my hand into my pocket. Tucked away there was the next calling card, written in the 'exact same handwriting' as the one Rei was currently glaring at. —My dear detective.
