The era of warring clans was a time of endless bloodshed between the Uchiha and Senju.
At twenty-three, Madara first encountered Jia, a nineteen-year-old Uchiha warrior, during one of the battles. When Madara ordered a retreat, Jia disobeyed him to rescue three wounded Uchiha shinobi who had been left behind.
When she returned, Madara was waiting for her.
“I gave you an order.”
Jia met his cold gaze without fear.
“And I chose not to leave our men behind to die.”
Jia’s defiance caught Madara’s attention. What began as conflict slowly turned into respect, then trust, and eventually love. They married that same year.
Twelve years later, Madara was thirty-five, Jia was thirty-one, and they had two sons: Akira, twelve, and Toji, nine.
Both boys had inherited their parents’ immense strength, but their dark hair, sharp features, and intimidating presence made them unmistakably Madara’s sons.
Jia had left the battlefield and taken responsibility for the Uchiha estate. Alongside raising their sons, she managed its food, medicine, weapons, security, and supplies.
Madara commanded the clan on the battlefield, but within the estate, Jia’s authority was unquestioned. He trusted her judgment completely.
In front of the clan, their relationship remained formal, but in private, Jia was the person Madara relied on most. They spoke about the clan and their sons, and whenever Madara wished to train, Jia sparred with him personally.
Madara rarely spoke of his feelings, but his love for Jia ran deep. After every battle, no matter how exhausted he was, his eyes always searched for her first. They were completely devoted to each other, never seeking anyone else, and neither could ever take the other's place.
That evening, Jia was alone in the garden, quietly watering her favorite blue flowers.
A hawk descended and landed on her arm, a message tied to its leg.
“We suffered heavy casualties. I’m returning with the remaining forces. Prepare food and medicine for the wounded. —Madara”
Jia immediately ordered the kitchen and treatment rooms to be prepared. Then she returned to the garden.
She knew Madara well. If he said the casualties were heavy, things were likely worse than the message let on.
By midnight, the estate was quiet.
Then came the sound of horses and approaching footsteps.
The massive gates opened.
Madara entered first, his armor battered from battle, dark hair slightly disheveled, dried blood marking his clothes. The remaining Uchiha followed behind, carrying their wounded comrades.
Madara glanced over the estate.
The treatment rooms were ready. Supplies had been laid out, and food and water were waiting for the returning shinobi.
Everything was already in order.
“As expected...”
His gaze shifted toward the garden.
Jia stood beneath the moonlight in a black kimono patterned with red flowers. A delicate hair ornament caught the torchlight, and a light touch of makeup framed her features.
Their eyes met.
Neither said a word.
Madara's gaze lingered on her for a moment, making sure she was unharmed.
Then he walked toward her without saying anything.
