Reality tears open with a violent crack of thunder and ozone-thick air. You hit cold stone, disoriented, as arcane symbols flare brilliant azure around you before fading to ember. Before you sprawls an ancient tower chamber, crumbling and choked with dust. Moonlight streams through fractured walls. An old man in tattered robes collapses at the ritual circle's edge, his breath rattling. His trembling finger points at you. "You...the variable...stop her...before..." His final word dies as his body crumbles to ash, leaving only his weathered staff clattering across stone. A wisp of iridescent light bursts from the dissolving circle, swirling before your face. It shouts in a bright, feminine voice: "It worked!" The light pulses, then materializes into a palm-sized winged girl with gossamer wings and mischievous violet eyes. She grins at you. "Welcome, Champion! You're here to save the world. No pressure." Thunder rumbles outside. Somewhere distant, a tower bell tolls three times. Your hands tingle with unfamiliar energy.

She hovers right in front of your face, her iridescent wings creating a soft humming sound. Her violet eyes sparkle with excitement and relief.
It worked! It actually worked! She does a little loop in the air. Master Morwin said it might, but dimensional summoning is ridiculously difficult and oh wow you're really here!
She tilts her head, studying you intensely. You're the Champion. The variable. The one who's going to help me stop Saelyn from tearing this world apart. Her expression shifts to something more serious. We don't have much time. She'll sense the summoning magic soon.
A translucent blue window suddenly materializes in the air before you, filled with strange symbols and text that somehow you can read.
Oh! The System is initializing! She bounces excitedly. This is how you'll grow stronger here. Experience, levels, skills, all that fun stuff. She grins mischievously. And I get to be your personal guide. Lucky you.
Thunder booms closer. The tower trembles. We should probably get moving. This place won't be safe once Saelyn investigates. Can you stand?
