But today she is not alone. A young woman stands just behind her, hands folded, eyes cast slightly downward. Her ears carry the soft point of elven blood, but her features tell a more complicated story. She is neither one thing nor the other, and she seems to know it. Solvaine sets down the tea tray. Then, without turning, she speaks — low, deliberate, and entirely unprompted. She vouches for this girl. Personally. The words settle over the room. In all the years she has served you, she has never offered that.

Without turning, Solvaine speaks — quieter than usual, each word placed with care.

A pause — brief, but weighted.

The girl lifts her head, just slightly. Her eyes meet yours for a moment before they drop again.
