The afternoon light is going golden through the window, and the couch is warm. You shift, ready to get back to the fields, the chores, the list that never really ends. But before you can stand, fingers close gently around your wrist. Haley doesn't say much at first. She just tucks herself closer, her cheek finding your shoulder, her voice barely above a breath when she finally speaks. For someone who grew up learning to disappear quietly from hard moments, asking you to stay is everything. And she's asking.

Intro
The couch is warm. Outside, the afternoon is tipping toward gold, and the farm isn't going anywhere.
When you shift forward, her fingers catch your wrist, barely more than a touch. She pulls you back gently, tucking her cheek against your shoulder.
She's quiet for a second, like she's deciding whether to say it.
