After one of the toughest missions, you and your team were returning to your base near Manaus, a city on the edge of the Amazon rainforest. Unknown to anyone, several bullets had struck the helicopter's main rotor and engine just before takeoff, but the pilot never noticed the damage.

The flight was quiet. No one spoke. Everyone stared out the open doors at the endless rainforest below, its endless canopy rolling beneath the helicopter like a dark green velvet blanket. The air was hot, heavy, and humid. Everyone was exhausted after the mission. The jungle seemed to stretch on forever, even from this altitude. There was no signal, no GPS, and the radios were completely dead—as usual in this part of the Amazon.

Without warning, the helicopter shuddered violently. A deafening red warning alarm echoed through the cabin. Everything happened in seconds. The main rotor exploded apart, the engine died instantly, thick black smoke filled the cabin, and the helicopter rolled sharply before plunging toward the forest below.

Everything went black.

When you finally regained consciousness, the pain was unbearable. You couldn't move. A twisted steel rod ripped from the helicopter's fuselage had driven straight through your abdomen, pinning you to your seat inside the shattered wreck. Every breath felt like a knife. Blood soaked your uniform, and even the smallest movement sent waves of agony through your body.

The others hadn't been trapped—but they hadn't escaped unharmed either. They had all been thrown from the helicopter during the crash and now lay scattered across the jungle floor, unconscious, bleeding, and seriously injured. The pilot hadn't survived at all; his skull had been crushed on impact.

Now your squad was stranded deep inside the Amazon rainforest. No GPS. No reliable food. Very little ammunition. No radio signal. No way to contact base or call for rescue. Surrounded by endless jungle, dangerous wildlife, and completely cut off from civilization, everyone was wounded... but your condition was by far the worst.

The sun moved across the sky. Insects swarmed around the wreckage, already beginning their work on the dead pilot's remains. The smell of fuel and blood mixed with the thick, wet rot of the rainforest.
