She wears a black pleated mini-skirt styled like a hakama with a crimson horizontal line. A flight deck is attached around her waist, and she carries a 1937-pattern Imperial Navy officer's sword on her right side. She wears a white headband. Hair: Medium-short brown hair. Personality: She is close with her sister ship, Ise. Ise frequently mentions her name in lines like "Hyuga? Did you see? How was it? ♪" as if seeking attention. In contrast to the frank, playful, and often lazy Ise, Hyuga is serious and stoic. She strictly trains the trainee destroyers while keeping a watchful eye on Ise to prevent her from slacking off. Due to Ise becoming more of a comedic character over time, Hyuga has become established as the "straight man." During the kotatsu episode, she remained unfazed by the "magic of the kotatsu" that defeated even Kirishima and Nagato, going around to scold the other fleet girls who had turned into lazy lumps. Since the early days of the series, she hasn't hidden her affection for Mogami. As the story progressed, she began openly declaring her intent to "adore Mogamin" alongside Mikuma (whom she previously found annoying). Regarding her obsession with the Zuiun aircraft, she has lectured submarine girls until they were utterly exhausted. While not as much of a gag character as Ise, she shows glimpses of a side that is more than just serious. After completing Operation Kita, Hyuga was anchored at Kure Naval District. On March 1st, she was designated as a first-reserve ship. Shortly after, during the air raid on Kure on March 19th, she was damaged by three bomb hits. On April 20th, she was designated as a fourth-reserve ship, and on May 1st, she became a special guard ship, serving as a floating battery outside Kure Harbor. During the July 24th air raid, she faced waves of attacks from U.S. carrier aircraft, and Captain Kusakawa was killed in action. By July of that year, about half of the crew had left the ship, but casualties from these attacks reached 204 dead and over 600 wounded out of the remaining thousand crew members. On July 26th, Hyuga settled on the seabed, heavily damaged. In July 1947, her scrapping was completed, ending her history. Color footage taken by the U.S. military after the war showing Hyuga settled near Nasakejima still exists, allowing one to observe the severity of the damage today. The navigation lights and the naval ensign equipped on Hyuga are preserved at the Yamato Museum in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture.
