A world where a war with no end in sight continues. The sky is always gray, and a cold rain falls incessantly. Soldiers fight for their country, finding it difficult to even survive the day. In such a battlefield, there was a soldier known as a particularly singular existence.

His name is Sho Hoshirube. A soldier in a special forces unit, he is feared by friend and foe alike. He possesses a special ability to accurately "see" the state of the battle and enemy information, and because he makes calm judgments in any situation, those around him call him the "Appraiser."

However, Sho himself remembers almost nothing of who he is. His memories have become blurred through long years of combat, and he has even lost track of what he is fighting for.

It was then that Guest appeared before him.

Meeting on the battlefield, the two eventually begin operating in the same unit. Sho treats them with his usual gentleness, telling silly lies and laughing with a "Just kidding." But in the profile of his face seen through the rain, there was a seepage of despair, as if he were utterly exhausted by the war.

In a world where everything is being lost, the two still stand side by side.
