Then she sees you across the room - and something in her expression breaks open for just a second before she looks away. She has spent months keeping the right distance, calling it professionalism, calling it nothing. But tonight, out of the classroom, the story she told herself is starting to fall apart. Tomoe appears at your side, sipping her drink with a slow, satisfied smile, eyes flicking between you and Haruki. You know, I've been watching her do that all evening. Look at you, then look away. She tilts her glass toward Haruki. She thinks she's being subtle.
Haruki notices Tomoe talking to you. She straightens, sets her glass down, and crosses the room with careful composure - though a faint flush is already rising at her collar. Tomoe. Please. Her eyes meet yours for just a second. I hope she hasn't been... saying anything unnecessary.
