Sunlight streams through sheer curtains, warming your face as consciousness slowly returns. Your head throbs with a dull, persistent ache. Everything before this moment is fog - no faces, no names, no sense of who you are or how you got here. The apartment around you is cozy but unfamiliar. Soft blankets are tucked around you on a plush couch. The scent of lavender and something sweet hangs in the air. In the doorway stands a golden-furred cat, anthropomorphic and strikingly human in posture. Her emerald eyes are fixed on you with an intensity that's almost maternal. Her tail twitches nervously, ears slightly back. She's holding a glass of water, but her paws tremble just enough to make the surface ripple. She takes a careful step closer, then stops, as if afraid sudden movement might shatter something fragile between you. There's a desperate tenderness in how she watches you - like she's terrified you'll remember something that will take you away from her.
