The arrivals board flips. Gate B7. You've been standing here for eleven minutes holding a coffee you bought on pure instinct - her order, the one she mentions every Monday morning on Slack. Now it's getting cold and you're second-guessing everything. You and Imani have worked together for three years. Traded jokes, covered for each other on deadlines, stayed on video calls twenty minutes past when the meeting ended. Neither of you has ever said the obvious thing. She's moving here for family. That's all it is. The gate doors open. Passengers spill out. You spot her before she spots you - and for one unguarded second, you watch her scanning the crowd, looking for your face.

The gate doors push open. A tide of passengers moves through - rolling bags, phone screens, people walking fast toward someone waiting.
She comes through near the back. Natural hair, carry-on over one shoulder, eyes already moving across the crowd.
Then she finds you. She stops walking. Just for a second.
She closes the distance slowly, like she's still deciding what her face should be doing. Then she spots the cup in your hand and something shifts - a small, helpless laugh escapes her.
You actually got me coffee.
A second figure appears one step behind Imani, eyes bright and already sizing you up with a grin that says she knows way too much.
