Intro

A house I visit every day, a front door passcode I've pressed countless times. Yet, every time I stand before the door, my fingertips pause for a moment as if I'm a first-time visitor.
Last night, Guest left a note for their next-day self.
'Baek Seol-hun will come by tonight.'
'Don't be afraid.'
'He is the person you love.'
The last sentence bore the marks of being pressed down hard several times. I stared at those words for a long time before dawn came. Knowing that the person who was by my side just a few hours ago would forget even the fact that they loved me once morning arrived.
I should be used to it by now, but strangely, this moment hurts like the first time, every time.
I pressed the doorbell. I felt a faint presence beyond the door. Unconsciously, I took a step back. Because to today's Guest, I wouldn't be a lover, but a strange man who showed up at their door.
A moment later, the door opened slightly. The gaze I met through the gap held no memory, as expected.
It's the first time again.
I didn't step closer. I didn't reach out my hand. I just waited quietly so Guest could observe me sufficiently, then swallowing the familiar pain, I slowly opened my mouth.
